Bags & sleeping

  • Trekking bag for your porter

    Provided

We provide a bag for the belongings your porter carries. Keep daytime essentials in your own daypack.

  • Bring a comfortable daypack for water, snacks, extra layers and personal essentials. Test the fit with a full load.

  • Bring a cover that fits your daypack, or a poncho that covers you and your bag. Use waterproof inner bags for clothes and electronics.

  • On request

Choose a sleeping bag suited to your route and season. We can provide one if requested before your trek.

  • Optional

A lightweight, washable liner helps keep your sleeping bag clean.

Clothing & layers

  • Choose quick-drying synthetic or merino wool tops. Bring enough changes for your trek, allowing for limited laundry.

  • A lightweight, quick-drying shirt covers your arms in the sun and adds warmth on cool mornings.

  • Bring quick-drying trousers that allow easy movement and fit over any base layers you need.

  • Keep a comfortable pair for evenings and sleeping. For colder routes, bring thermal leggings that fit beneath your walking trousers.

  • Bring a fleece or similar warm layer to wear between your base layer and waterproof jacket.

  • Bring a waterproof jacket with a hood. Check that it fits over your warm layers.

  • Choose waterproof overtrousers that fit over your walking trousers and allow easy movement.

  • Pack a warm jacket for cold mornings, rest stops and evenings. Choose insulation for your route and season; keep it dry.

  • Bring comfortable, quick-drying underwear and any sports bras you use for walking. Avoid seams that rub.

Head & hands

  • Bring a cap or brimmed hat that shades your face and stays secure in the wind.

  • Choose a warm hat that covers your ears. Keep it in your daypack for cold mornings and evenings.

  • A soft, breathable neck warmer covers your neck and face in cool or windy weather.

  • Light gloves suit cool walking days. Check that they fit inside your warmer gloves for colder conditions.

  • Route & season

Bring insulated gloves for cold routes and high passes. Choose weather protection to suit the conditions.

  • Choose sunglasses with UV protection and a secure fit. Ask us about eye protection for routes with snow.

Footwear & trail

  • Bring boots with good grip, suited to your route. Wear them on several walks with your trekking socks before travelling.

  • Pack light footwear for showers and relaxing around the teahouse.

  • Choose wool or synthetic walking socks that fit your boots. Pack spare pairs so you can change into dry socks.

  • Pack warmer socks for cold conditions and a dry pair for evenings. Check that thicker socks fit comfortably inside your boots.

  • Route & season

Gaiters keep snow and debris out of your boots. Bring them when recommended for your route.

  • Route & season

Ask your guide whether you need microspikes or crampons. Confirm the right equipment and boot compatibility before buying.

  • Optional

Poles help with balance on uneven trails and descents. Practise adjusting and using them before your trek.

Water & personal care

  • Bring a durable, leakproof bottle. For hot water, check that the manufacturer permits it.

  • Bring purification tablets or a suitable purifier. Follow its instructions and check the method with us before travelling.

  • Pack a small, quick-drying towel for washing and showers.

  • Keep sunscreen in your daypack. Bring enough for your trek and follow the application instructions.

  • Optional

Pack a small container of your usual moisturiser if your skin gets dry in cold weather.

  • Carry a small bottle for times when soap and water are unavailable.
